Pickin’ Sticks by
Quality hand-made instruments, carefully created in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.
What is a pickin’ stick?
Based on a mountain dulcimer, a pickin’ stick is sort of like a three string guitar.
It could be called a wonder stick because it is easy to play.
If you can hum a tune, with very little practice you will be able
to pick out a melody and play simple chords.
What makes it so easy is the fact that it only has 3 strings
and it comes tuned to an open chord “G” or you could easily change it to “D” tuning.
It has a diatonic scale, think of a piano
where you only had to play the white keys
(actually it does have one black key, an F# fret).
Once you start playing it will open up a new world of musical possibilities.
It is well made and inexpensive and comes with a variety of options.
You may order a different wood, such as cedar for the top or
you could choose a colour rather than the natural finish,
a carrying bag, tuner, or a stand.
We also have a smaller version for small hands called the “80 series”.
Any of the instruments can be ordered with an electronic pick-up
so you could hook it up to your own amplifier
when you want lots of volume.
If you don't have an amplifier, we would be happy to build you a cigar box amplifier.
The newer instruments that we build may not be exactly like the photos shown,
as we are always trying to improve the design, so there may
be slight changes. We would be happy to send
photos of what we have in stock
before you place an order.
